Geology/Fossils

I/we find geology fascinating, and fossils in particular. Here is some more info about them.

Locations for geology/fossil hunting:

Bracklesham Bay (W.Sussex)
The fossils at Bracklesham Bay are very easy to find on the beach. Here are some pictures from one of our visits. Geological age - Eocene (about 50 million year old).
Lulworth Cove (Dorset)
An amazing geological site - the most visited in the UK, you can always nearly always see field trips doing the rounds. Such popularity detracts somewhat from the site (as does the £1/hr parking fee!), but the area is huge and you can quickly get away from the worst of the crowds. Geological age - Jurassic/Cretaceous (about 130 million year old).
Isle of Sheppey (Kent)
The north coast of the Isle of Sheppey. A bit of an effort to get there, and it's not the prettiest site but the geology is impressive.
Discovering Fossils
A superb site, full of information about fossil hunting in the UK - where to go, what equipment you might need and lots of other useful information.
