Sophie's Pages: 0-3 months
Week 0
Sophie a couple of hours old, weighing 2.59kg (5lb 11oz). Her height was recorded as 55cm by one of the midwives - but we don't think that this was accurate, as two weeks later we measured her at 50cm! Both sets of Grandparents come to visit, plus Auntie Ann.
Week 1
Sophie's first trips out in the car and in her buggy, and we get used to looking after her. Great Grandmothers Knight and Wilson come to call, as do Auntie Sonia and Uncle James plus Great Uncle and Aunt Hubbard.
Week 2
Sophie wows her fans at her wetting the baby's head party, or were they just overcome by the drink and heat? She weighs about the same as when she was born - 2.58kg (5lb 11oz), and we measure her at about 50cm tall. New fans at the party include Great Gran Hubbard, Uncle Colin, Uncle Bob, Auntie Caroline and all three wicked Hubbard Uncles. During the week Sophie had her longest trip so far, when she went to visit Great Grandad Knight.
Week 3
Sophie's first week with dad back at work - mum and dad both get very tired. A quiet weekend sees us just about manage to complete the town trail. Sophie weighs in at 2.92kg (6lb 6oz) on her first visit to baby clinic.
Week 4
Sophie's first night away from home - a visit to Nanny Jim. She behaves very well (Sophie that is, not Nanny Jim and we are encouraged to think that we might be able to manage days away OK.
Week 5
A quiet weekend at home, Sophie starts to learn to grab hold of things. We get a chance to catch up on some DIY, and we go to the dedication ceremony of our neighbours' baby, Hannah. Sophie manages to sleep most of the day, but wakes up for the night! No change there then. At her second Baby clinic Sophie weighs 3.27kg (7lb 3oz), and we measure her height at 54cm. According to the height prediction formula in one of our books she will end up at 164cm (based on parent's heights).
Week 6
Sophie's first big day out - a visit to Alderley Edge Mines. Sophie is very well behaved (ie. asleep most of the time!) despite being out from 7am till 10pm, with around 400miles of driving and an hour underground in a mine. Sophie meets Great Uncle Bob for the first time.
Week 7
At her third Baby clinic Sophie weighs 3.61kg (7lb 15oz). Sophie follows this up by wowing her fans at her first "proper" family fest, where she meets Great Nan Wade for the first time.
Week 8
Sophie has not been too well (crapping every hour!) so we take her to her fourth Baby clinic - Sophie weighs 3.71kg (8lb 2oz), and we measure her height at 56cm. The clinic says that Sophie probably has a cold, but that she is OK otherwise as she is still putting on weight. Sophie is starting to make more noises, and she will open and close her mouth and coo when you talk to her.
Week 9
At her fifth Baby clinic Sophie weighs 3.80kg (8lb 6oz). Sophie has recovered from both her bout of lurgi and the trauma of being injected (first round of immunisations) and she is enjoying playing with her new mobile.
Week 10
Sophie goes to visit Uncle Bob and Auntie Ann, where she is shocked by Ann's attempt to eat a pudding twice Sophie's size! Auntie Ann and Nanny Jim spend the weekend cooing over Sophie, and arguing over whose turn it is to hold her (and get puked on!).
Week 11
At her sixth Baby clinic Sophie weighs 4.14kg (9lb 2oz). Sophie is now sleeping in her cot because she has grown so much!
Week 12
Sophie is having quite a busy time, what with trips out most weekends. Unfortunately this does not seem to wear her out, and she still howls for a while most evenings. Playing her nursery rhymes quietens her for a while - and the headphones mean we don't have to hear them too!
Week 13
At her seventh Baby clinic Sophie weighed 4.43kg (9lb 12oz). Sophie went on her first letterboxing trip to Dartmoor, and found two boxes.
